Accelerated
Event Management |
|
Traditional supply chains are evolving into
a network structure of suppliers and manufacturing/
distribution facilities distributed across
the globe. Such an environment requires various
stake holders within the network to proactively
and continuously share any event related to
shipment or material information such as plans,
current status or exceptions with each other
in a timely manner in order to improve the
overall supply chain performance. Without
the ability to provide such level of visibility
to each other, each stakeholder can end up
continuously reacting to ‘unplanned
surprises’ with limited time to act,
as well as carrying a lot of extra inventory
to compensate for such surprises. SAP Supply
Chain Event Management (SAP SCEM) solution
addresses this issue.
SAP delivers a comprehensive set of events
pre-packaged for key business processes within
their Supply Chain Event Management solution.
The SAP pre-packaged solution covers key blueprints
including a procurement scenario, an order
fulfillment scenario and a production scenario
among others. The procurement scenario covers
a set of comprehensive events including:
•
PO Receipt Acknowledgement from the Supplier
•
Advanced Shipping Notification Receipt from
the Supplier
•
Receipt of Goods
•
Receipt of Invoice
•
Payment Made to Supplier
However, if a user wants to add additional
events for their unique procurement scenario
(a scenario where you are depending on a set
of offshore suppliers for critical components
in a lead supply chain), there can be a fair
bit of customization required to the existing
SAP SCEM pre-packaged solution. Bristlecone
has developed extended pre-packaged SCEM solutions
that extend the procurement and order fulfillment
scenarios to enable companies to have a more
comprehensive supply chain event framework
for internal monitoring and for sharing with
their supply chain partners without the significant
expense of customization. For example, the
Bristlecone scenario extends the SAP SECM
procurement scenario from five to thirteen
events including:
•
PO Receipt Acknowledgement from the Supplier
•
Advanced Shipping Notification Receipt from
the Supplier
•
Shipment picked up by Carrier
•
Carrier Arrival at Loading Port
•
Departure from Loading Port
•
Broker Receives Paper Work from I/E or Vendor
•
Carrier Arrival at Destination Port
•
Customs In
•
Clear Customs
•
Departure from Destination Port
•
Receipt of Goods
•
Receipt of Invoice
•
Payment Made to Supplier
