For finance departments using SAP S/4HANA, CB COPA has traditionally been the method of choice for profitability analysis. This was because, at least initially, a number of features were only available using the CP COPA module, including splitting the cost of goods sold (COGS) based on a cost component split; splitting the manufacturing variances based on Variance categories; and populating the sales quantities in multiple units of measure (UoM). However, recent updates to SAP S/4HANA Finance offers several robust updates to the AB COPA module, making many of the capabilities within CB COPA available within the AB COPA module. These updates are paving the way for finance professionals to leverage AB COPA for profitability analysis.
